Distance learning - Monday & Tuesday

1st & 2nd November

Ata marie tamariki ma

I hope you all have had a lovely weekend,  some of you may have even seen some pumpkins around your neighbourhood! Today and tomorrow we have three exciting activities to help us continue with our learning.

Activity 1 - Descriptive writing

Can you describe what is happening in the picture below -

Activity 2 - Numbers

Put on your dancing shoes, watch the video and learn your numbers!

Activity 3 - Story time

Story time with Suzy! Follow along as Suzy tells us about Jin's Great Escape - make sure you are listening so you can answer some questions at the end.

After you have listened to the story, try answering some of these questions!
  • Where did the Otters live?
  • What were the names of Jin's two sisters?
  • How do you think Jin was feeling when she got lost?
  • Who did the zoo keepers call to help look for Jin?
  • What island did Jin swim to?

Can you think like a Scientist?

Notice, Think and Wonder….

What can you see?

Your eyes are amazing and unique just like the eyes in these pictures - what colour are your eyes?

I wonder who these eyes belong to?

What do you wonder and think about?

Do each pair (two) of eyes look the same?

Can you name three things you can use your eyes for? ...

Can you see in the dark?

Being an Explorer

Look outside. It's a lovely day today.

Who is going play outside, ride their scooter or bike and explore their garden today?

I hope you are able to complete some mahi (work) on Seesaw.

I would love to hear from you.  If you are unable, perhaps you can read our blog and draw a picture or write a story about what you can see in your garden.

You can show me when we come back to school.

Have a lovely Wednesday Raapa

School Notice

 Kia ora koutou,

On Monday October 18 we will still be in  Level 3.
The school is officially closed. This may be only Monday and Tuesday or longer depending on government decisions.
If all the adults in your household are essential workers, your child/ren may attend school from 8:45am to 3pm.
If your family is in this position, please email Pippa principal@hameast.school.nz by 7pm Saturday October 16.
Please identify children, adults and their place/s of work, and days when the child/ren cannot be supervised because of this.
You need to know that the bubble we provide will NOT look like school as your children know it.
They cannot access any playgrounds, sing/dance inside or work/play closely alongside others.
2 metres distance is required at all times. If there are family groups they will be in the same bubble. They will not have their own teacher or classroom.
At level 3 it is important to stay in your family bubble.
Sending children to school should be a last and final option.

I hope you are all safe and well and have enjoyed your holidays. We

are currently setting up online learning for Monday and Tuesday and

I will be using Seesaw for this.

If you would prefer to check the links on this blog, there are many that your children will enjoy or you could do the following:

Look, draw, look.

Find something that you are curious about to sketch. Use the look, draw, look method and remember the whispering, talking and shouting skills we have practiced in class.

Be a Scientist

Think, notice and wonder. Look out of the window or in your driveway or garden. Observe carefully and write: what do you notice? What do you think? What do you wonder??
